Armory #9

This evening’s event was last live event for a few weeks due to holidays. I was, therefore, hoping for a good result to tide me over until the next event later in the month. I was delighted to get another 3 out of 3 wins at Geek Retreat in Leeds, winning a pair of Brute Foil Hatchets (Mind and Body).

The number attending this week was lower than the Draft event the previous week, with quite a few people being away on holiday or not being able to attend due to work commitments. This did provide then chance to play against someone new though, which is always interesting.

The first game (Win) was against Chane. As seems to be the way with most of my Chane matchups lately, the win was ultimately down to me holding on long enough and striking a reasonable balance of blocks and attacks to force my opponent to die from their own blood debt. Recent tweaks to my Prism deck, such as the inclusion of yellow Pummels, seemed to have paid off in this match, with a few attacks being successfully buffed, including a Herald of Erudition.

The second game (Win) was against Prism, perhaps my first Prism mirror game outside of a draft event. It was clear that my opponent was relatively new to Flesh and Blood, and was playing a fairly ‘out of the box’ Prism Blitz deck. Having started with the same deck myself, I had a very good idea of what was coming and was confident of the win. Whilst trying not to embarrass my opponent, I still came away with a 16-0 win. I don’t think this score reflects the closeness of the game, and I saw my opponent playing against Dash in the first round, which she came quite close to winning.

My third game (Win) was against the aforementioned Dash player. I have played against Dash in a few games at EH Gaming, so had a fairly good idea what to expect. I had also seen the conclusion of the first round game, so had a feel for the tactics my opponent was going to employ. In the end game, this was primarily him pitching the same few cards (with little or no defence capability) to use Dash’s pistol. I figured if I could just keep batting off the attacks until I could get a few attacks in myself, I should be able to win. This tactic paid off for me.

Overall, I was very pleased with the performance of my tweaked Prism deck. I was a little worried that the displacement of a couple of Heralds for the Pummels might upset the flow and leave me with a turn with a low attacking hand. This didn’t happen, but is still something I will keep an eye on with this iteration of the Prism deck.

As I mentioned earlier, this is my last in store game for a few weeks. I just need to decide now how to productively spend my time on holiday. I’m sure FaB will feature there somehow.
